3 Minutes to . . .

It all started way back in the early seventies. I was staying with my sister, Punkie, when her husband, Ricky, made this observation. "your sister is the only woman I know that can come out of a bathroom after 20 minutes and actually look different" (pause) is that a compliment? I still am not sure. I do have to admit, however, that I can go from "scrub" to "presentable" in 3 minutes. Let me know what you think----imagine what I could do if I ever took 20 minutes!

Getting Started . . .

So . . . I have this new laptop, love it! Anyhoo, getting all my files switched over has proven to be . . . not so much fun! I did do all my favorite quick links, but I have no pictures or documents, it's kinda a drag. I'll do a few at a time so I will be adding a few pictures at a time. I actually tried to add music today but the site is down! I'm trying to blog intresting things but it's better with pictures!!

No I'm not dead . . . Yet

Ok. The truth is I used to love to write! I felt (still do) that writing is a lost art. So why haven't I blogged. I think part of the reason is I get too personal. Save that for a journal. I also never have pictures because Kenny usually takes his great camera and does all the snapping while I zone out, typical. SO, I am going to work on the "lost art" of written communication---don't hold your breath.

Swimsuit Season? Already?

It has to get warm soon.
I need to lose my
February fat in time for Mexico.
Ain't happening.
It snowed 3 inches of heavy,
wet, snow yesterday.
(insert heavy sigh here)
I belong to Weight Watchers and need to weigh in every month. Today was the day. Down 1 pound from last month,
(that all chocolate diet DOES work!)
up 10 lbs. from last Mexico
where I was UP 10 lbs.
You do the math.
Please pray for sun.

More About Dumb Co-workers . . . .

I have to give an update about real people at my real job!!!
5 . . .count 5 . . .twenty dollar bills equals $110---this was on a real till checkout slip . . .

Speaking of beer season, we had 6 pack bottles of LAND SHARK on sale for $7.99 For those of you who don't indulge, this is an expensive beer meant to compete with Corona. The customer brought up a 12 pack and claimed the sign said it was on sale for $7.99---Cashier sold it to them for that price and left a "incorrect pricing" slip on it. We lost $9 on that deal. Glad the pricing slip has name & employee number on it so the boss knows who to can . . .

Sunshine on my . . . .

Hey! The sun is finally shining on my (insert your own body part here) and it feels good. I guess I should explain some of the recent depression (wah-baby's). I have a blood condition that can really alter my body, my mental attitude, my energy level, and especially my emotional stability. It's weird. I do see an oncologist for this. I don't have cancer but I am treated somewhat like a cancer patient. I do get treatments, some in the form of iron infusions. Because iron can be sooo toxic, my blood levels have to reach a certain "low" before I can receive a treatment. From early Nov 07 to mid-March 08, my levels took a nose dive. It was a little scary. I know my body pretty good, so when I went to the Doc in Nov I knew I was on the downslide. I let a nurse, new to the office and young, intimidate me. I let her convince me that my levels were "not all that low" and that I was okay. Boy, did I learn my lesson! I just chalked up the physical symptoms to the onset of the holidays, working longer days at my job, remodeling the house and such. It wasn't until I had some blood work done from my GP for my annual that I finally hit the wall. Let me elaborate. I get up at 4 am each day to be at work at 5 am.. I don't eat breakfast but I do wash down my vitamins with Diet Lime Coke! For a few weeks, my stomach was really unsettled--duh! right? But when I started to get dry heaves every day and the particular morning, fasting for blood work, it was particularly bad. I had the blood draw around 8:30 am and was so sick that I wasn't sure I could go back to work. (time for a shift in priorities!) I asked the doctor if I could get a shot of phenergan, to settle my stomach so I could go back to work and it hit me---LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. I finished my shift and headed straight to the blood doc. Yes, dangerously low blood cells. Yes I got the infusion, plus a "get of of work free pass" I was off for a solid week. I did feel better but not really up to snuff. The follow up 3 weeks later confirmed my levels were still low. I have to wait 2 more weeks and check levels again. That is in just 4 days. I believe I'll get a little more treatment and hopefully by the end of May actually feel human again---relative speaking of course!
MORAL OF THE STORY DO Trust yourself, especially if you know your body like I do. Ask more questions if you aren't convinced with the answers you've been given. Believe in your doctor.
DON'T become a hypochondriac by using the web to diagnose yourself or be a major pain in the ass to your medical office.

Thanks for bearing with me thru this "poor me" episode. Stay tuned! I really do have a life to be thankful for!

Give thanks every day to those who brighten your day, make your work load easier and especially any higher entity you trust in. Love Ya'll.

I've Lost Faith in My Memories

I think I am losing it. For real. And by "it" I mean everything . . . my family, my body, my enthusiasm. my sense of humor, my health, my compassion, my sanity, my ability to give a damn. I feel numb. Is this what happens? I mean when you live to be a mother and suddenly no one needs you anymore?
I feel like a stranger (enemy) to most
of my children and the other half are great but hey,
they have their own lives, right?
When did I get old?
I know , I know . . . well, do something about it! That's what I'm trying tell you,

I have lost that ability.
Blah blah, blah. (Hey, that was kinda funny on multiple levels)
Jesus! Is winter over yet?
